I’m proud to say that I’ve joined the Third Writers’ Platform-Building Campaign. I discovered this gem through Vernieda’s awesome blog over here, and I’m extremely excited to join the fun.
Participating in the following campaigns:
- Dystopian/Post-Apocalyptic
- Fantasy
- Science Fiction
- Horror
- Beginning Bloggers
To be honest, I’m a little fuzzy on what age I write for. Awful, I know! Bad writer. Bad platforming-building writer.
So there are a lot of children and teenagers in my work, but I don’t think of myself as writing for a specifically YA audience. At the same time, I would be perfectly happy if my stories did end up in the YA bracket. I’m pretty sure my themes are too dark for children, but, um, Ender’s Game is supposedly a children’s book. And Coraline still scares the crap out of me. So who knows.
I plan to figure this out, hopefully some time this century, but in the meantime let’s have some dystopian/post-apocalyptic/fantasy/science fiction/horror/beginning blogger fun!
Look, I even brought cute rodents in teacups! D’awww.

/ August 25, 2011Yay! How cool that you joined up! \o/

/ August 25, 2011Also, it occurred to me that I probably should have joined the horror campaign too. Seeing as my WIP’s about blood-drinking witches and the exorcists who love them. Oops!

/ August 25, 2011Horror tends to creep up on you. (Usually in the form of creepy dead children.) I wouldn’t have classified myself as a horror writer even a couple weeks ago, but recently I’ve been ruminating on the fact that a major WIP is about a haunted castle full of little girl ghosts. Seems vaguely horror-ish to me.
Also, blood-drinking witches dating exorcists – sounds like a rip-roaring good time to me!

/ August 25, 2011Annalise stopping by to scratch behind your ears and those of any creepy dead children that should be lurking nearby! Looking forward to more write campaign contact!

/ August 25, 2011Thank you for your visit! Looking forward to more contact as well. 😀
You can scratch the creepy dead children, just don’t feed them. Or look them straight in the eyes. They’re ornery types.

/ August 25, 2011gulp….now my cats are growling at something outside in the dark and I am skeerd! 😉

/ August 25, 2011Hi! Nice to meet you. I tend to write darker YA so who knows. I have to say those rodents in the teacups threw me off, but the more I looked at it the more I liked it. Weird I know.
Looking forward to more posts.
Annalise Green
/ August 25, 2011Yes, maybe I write darker YA too? *shyly* I don’t know.
They’re cute!! I love cute things. But I don’t want to drink out of those teacups.
Thank you for the support. 🙂

/ August 25, 2011Hey there, Annalise! Fellow campaigner. You are ambitious, my goodness! I only joined three groups and I’m already feeling the pressure! Lol… Also? I’m trying to figure out my niche writing-wise, too (though more genre-wise than age-wise) so that’ll be fun to have someone else to commiserate with on that subject!!
Awwwwww! I love Guinea pigs! Soooo cute!
Annalise Green
/ August 25, 2011Yes, I, er, got a little nervous, but I was trying to join every group that pertained to me…hopefully it will be manageable.
Finding niches is difficult. I guess it’s something we have to do but it can feel limiting. I like to write from a lot of different genres myself…
Cute, right! Aren’t they just?

/ August 27, 2011Hello! Yes, my blog is in its infancy at just 1 week, but I’ve had my fair share of neglected blogs. I feel really lucky to have found this Campaign so early on. Truly cosmic timing!

Good to see you on the campaign!

/ August 30, 2011Hello fellow horror writer! Lol! I wasn’t sure if horror was the right niche for my WIP, maybe “Dark” or “Thriller” would be a better fit but it IS about a girl who sees the love of her life dying over and over Final Destination style. It’s a bit horrific, don’t ya think? 😉
Anyway, I really like your sense of humor, I read three of your posts before coming to this one! And I have a TON of Campaigners yet to follow. Your blog is distracting. Lol!
I want one of those guinea pigs! So cute! ♥
Annalise Green
/ August 31, 2011I have the same problem too! My stories are dark thrillers but I don’t think of them as horror per say (I’m a complete coward when it comes to scary movies). Anyway, love of life dying over and over again certainly is horrific! But exciting and awesome.
So glad you enjoyed my posts! I don’t take myself very seriously, so I like to be silly and post adorable guinea pigs. ❤

/ September 1, 2011Hey Annalise, I’m in your horror campaign group. In reading some of the above comments, I’d also say that mine is more dark thriller than horror, but I’d also say mine is a suspenseful mystery with humor and romance, and I just don’t know where that gets shelved in the book stores! Also, I saw in your ten facts post why you love USA, and I have to heartily agree. Sometimes I think Matt Bomer is too beautiful to be real.
Annalise Green
/ September 2, 2011It’s hard to peg our genre, isn’t it? Sometimes I see books in certain genres and don’t understand why they’re there. It’s a tough thing.
Matt Bomer is like a Greek God sent down from heaven.

/ September 1, 2011Love the piggies! I almost can’t handle animals that cute!
Oh, and Hi!

/ September 3, 2011Aww…teacup rodents! I want one! Also in your dystopian/post-apocalyptic campaign group, crashing in to say Hi and glad to meet you. 🙂
Dude, I don’t know what genre I write either. I have a vague idea. Sometimes. If I’ve had enough coffee that day.
